Needs Analysis
CONTEXT
There is currently at 18% attrition rate at a large, public middle school in North Carolina. Teacher and student stress surrounding the post-pandemic return to school is causing compounding fear and anxiety. Teachers want to focus on their students' needs - namely Social Emotional Learning skills - but none have the time or training to do so.
As part of the plan to re-open schools, the school leadership has modified the daily schedule to allow for longer advisory time during homeroom to support students' social and emotional needs.
The project will give teachers quick, practical skills to bring the stress-reduction practices into the classroom, benefiting teachers and students alike.
